Mental Health Therapist (KidWise)

Sheltering Arms is currently recruiting for an Mental Health Therapist who under supervision of KidWise supervisor, with latitude for independent judgment, the Social Worker will be responsible for supporting MS 72 Satellite Clinic and assigned feeder school(s)  in addressing their mental health needs (i.e. anxiety, depression, trauma reactions and behavioral challenges).  This will in turn increase their school performance. 

This is a Full Time position, occasionally work evening and Saturday hours. Ideal Candidates will be bilingual in English/Spanish. 


 Essential Functions

  • Provide school-based mental health services to students
  • Support School staff by facilitating crisis sessions with students and family members
  • Provide group treatment ( with consent) to students as well as parents & Staff workshops
  • Attend SBST and in-house meetings at school
  • Maintain excellent tracking and records in accordance with Governmental and Agency requirements.
  • Develop a mental health workshop series.
  • Complete home visits as needed.
  • Refer students to academic and personal support services as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • MSW required,
  • LMSW or LCSW strongly preferred
  • Minimum of three years of work experience
  • Knowledge of family systems; Strong writing, oral and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently; Strong computer literacy
  • The ability to occasionally work evening and Saturday hours
  • Spanish speaking is preferred, but not required
