Therapist (Multi-Systemic Therapy) Supervisor

Sheltering Arms is currently looking to hire a MST Supervisor who will be responsible for providing supervision to one MST-SA team which is composed of 3 team members. Responsible for a small caseload; providing intensive home/community base behavioral treatment to high-risk youth and their families residing in Queens


Essential Functions

  • Provides weekly clinical group supervision and administrative supervision to MST therapists.
  • Reviews weekly case summaries submitted by therapists and provides written feedback.
  • Provides individual supervision focusing on therapist development and review of session recordings.
  • Conducts chart reviews of each supervisee to ensure that documentation are in compliance with ACS/OCFS mandates.
  • Provides MST-SA treatment to families
  • 75% of the therapeutic services are done in the home and/or community, maintaining a caseload of 2-3 clients with as much as 4 face-to-face clinical contact hours per week. MST Supervisors provides 24/7 on call services to families.
  • Completes MST weekly summaries for supervisory feedback
  • Training parents conduct urinalysis and follow MST-SA protocol.
  • Continuous assessment of safety and risk of each youth in the home in accordance to ACS policy.
  • Utilization of PROMIS (ACS system) for entering client contacts.
  • 5-10% utilization of CONNECTIONS (ACS system) for documentation (assessments, services plans, progress notes, and termination paperwork. Other 90-95% of paperwork is done on an offline template)
  • Provides case management support to linkages and referrals to additional support services and plans for termination.
  • Complete agency employee evaluation.
  • Assist in coordination of special projects and outreach for program development
  • Assist in the interviewing process.
  • Orients new staff to program policy and procedures.
  • Attends case conferences, MST and ACS trainings, meetings and supervision.
  • Covers in the absence of the Director
  • Other duties assigned by Director


Masters level Social Worker (preferred) or related field
Preferred clinical experience in:

  • Family systems theory
  • Social ecological theory
  • Cognitive- behavioral theory
  • Behavioral therapies
  • Pragmatic family therapies
  • Child development research]
  • Social skills assessment
  • MST certified (can be trained when hired)
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
